SQUADRON LEADER JILLY PRITCHARD KVRM
Born 20th September 1961, in Bradford, West Yorkshire. Educated at the local schools then Thornton Grammar. Commenced State Registered Nurse (SRN) Training in April 1980 at Bradford School of Nursing. Qualified as one of the first Registered General Nurses (RGN) September 20th 1983. First Staff Nurse post was on an acute children’s Medical Ward. Moved to Suffolk in 1984, worked at the West Suffolk Hospital in Bury St. Edmunds in Acute Medical, Gynaecology and Critical Care Unit (CCU). In 1986 moved to Germany and worked for the Youth Training Service (YTS) delivering First Aid and Pre Nursing Courses, which I designed, to the YTS students. In 1989 I was living in Scotland, working as a Practice Nurse for the Local GP. Moved to South Yorkshire in 1991, worked for the British Nursing Association for a short time, then as a Practice Nurse in Gainsborough in a 6 Doctor Practice.
In 1993 moved to Oxfordshire and worked as a College Nurse. Also joined the RAF Reserve, 4626 AE Sqn and trained to be a flight nurse. Over the next several years I worked at the John Radcliffe hospital on their internal Bank in A&E, I developed and taught a Health Care Assistants Course. Worked as a commercial First Aid Instructor and Medical Examiner for St. John.
In 1998 until 2006 I was involved with my own Company, teaching Human, Factors and Leadership and Management courses to the Military, and to the Commercial Sector. This took me all over the UK as well as Norway, where I worked for 7 years, 4-5 times a year, plus Iceland and Oman. I did voluntary work in Egypt, teaching First Aid and Basic Health Management to the local people for 17 years from 1999, going out twice a year for a month at a time.
In 2003 I was called up for Military Service and served in Gulf War Two. I was away from home for 5 months, doing Aeromedical Repatriations of our military personnel. Again in 2006 and 2007, I did 4 and a half months each time in Afghanistan, based at Kandahar, leading the Aeromedical Repatriation Team.
In September 2008 I deployed to Sierra Leone as the Primary Health Care Nurse and Aeromedical Liaison Officer returning in May 2009 and was posted to Tactical Medical Wing, joining the world wide Aeromedical Team at RAF Lyneham until July 2010.
Moved to Czech Republic in August 2010, worked at the Military Academy in Vyskov teaching English as a Foreign Language to many different Eastern European Military personnel and First Aid to both the Czech Army and the British Military stationed there.
Moved to Wales in 2023, transferred to 614 Sqn in Cardiff as SO2 Engagement. Also involved in Recruitment and Training. Was stand in Staff Officer for the Air Officer for Wales whilst the post was vacant. Joined the Confederation of Inter Allied Officer Reserves (CIOR) Language Academy in 2017. Was promoted to Head of English in 2018. Member of the Confederation of Inter Allied Officer Reserves Language Academy (CLA) Committee.
Was mobilised twice during COVID Pandemic, once in London to work at NHS Gold Command HQ, and once to Manchester to run the Lateral Flow Testing Centres.
Now on a Volunteer Ex-Regular Reserve (VERR) contract on the Reserve Support Group (RSG) at Defence College Shrivenham
Was awarded the Kings Volunteer Reserve Medal in the Kings New Years Honours list 2024.
To Present day, working with A&A Training as a clinical Nurse Tutor in Various locations around the UK, including Universities, Prisons, Health Trusts, teaching mandatory training to student and qualified nurses and other allied Health Care Professionals.
Worked for St John (Wales) as a Commercial First Aid Instructor.
Join FlightMedicUK in 2014 as a Flight Nurse, participating in medical repatriations worldwide, promoted to Chief Flight Nurse in 2018.
Volunteer for a Welsh Charity, teaching CPR and Defib Training to as many members of the community as possible.
Was part of the COVID 19 Vaccination Team in Swansea from March 2021 to Dec 2022.
